For whom and where?

The Ricciotti Ensemble is a 43-member symphonic street orchestra that performs everywhere and for everyone. Since 1970, we have been playing for as many people as possible who normally do not or barely come into contact with live symphonic music. We often perform four or five times a day in a wide variety of places: in prisons, schools, asylum seekers' centers, hospitals, on the street, on planes, in amphitheaters, and more. If you share this mission and want to develop yourself musically, artistically, socially, organizationally, and/or socially, audition now! Advanced amateurs, conservatory students, and young professionals aged 18-31 are welcome to join our orchestra.

“I really felt like I was in a different place after your performance, as if I was briefly outside.”

What do we play?

Everything! Each tour is centered around a theme, and the repertoire within such a tour varies from classical to funk, from contemporary to jazz, from baroque to pop. Much of the music is arranged for us, and every tour features a piece that is specially composed for us. Additionally, we bring a soloist on each tour. Past tours include Ricciotti’s Beestenbende with singer Sterre Konijn, Ricciotti’s Futuratour with kamanche player Soheil Shayeste, and Expeditie NL with saxophonist David Kweksilber. Once a year, we travel abroad. We have been to Greece, Cuba, Spain, Brazil, and Ireland.

“Besides being the most creative incubator, Ricciotti is also the place where my connection between music and humanity became stronger than ever. I’ve never experienced performances where both the audience and the orchestra members were so touched.”

Why join?

Playing in the Ricciotti Ensemble means being part of a close-knit group of dedicated musicians. You gain experience in a variety of musical styles, learn how to improve your stage presence, and collaborate with inspiring fellow musicians. In Ricciotti, you're not just playing in an orchestra; you also have many opportunities to develop yourself in your own way. Some participate for musical reasons, others for social reasons, and you for your own reasons. Playing in Ricciotti requires flexibility and experimentation—and it offers an incomparable experience in return.

“I hope that later, as a doctor in social medicine, I can work for minority groups. That’s why I find it very special that, through music and connection, Ricciotti pursues that same goal.”

Participation and auditions

Participation in Ricciotti is completely free of charge. We ask that you be available for the entire rehearsal and tour period.

Prior to participating, auditions will take place. During these, you will play a solo piece and several audition segments. If you cannot be physically present for the auditions, it is possible to do a video audition in exceptional cases. Read the audition regulations here. Travel expenses for auditioning are reimbursed. Fill in this document and mail this to our business director.

Leave your details via the registration form underneath and get in touch! If you're interested but your instrument is not listed or you can't make the next tour, still leave your information: as soon as new auditions are announced, you will be notified. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send a mail to info@ricciotti.nl, blazerschef@ricciotti.nl or strijkerschef@ricciotti.nl!
