Quick to: Overview performances / Soloist / Repertoire / Members / Tourjournaal / Funds
This fall, the Ricciotti ensemble will take you on a musical walk through Ricciotti’s Klankbos. The tree, which is central to this tour, is indispensable: it purifies the air, cools the city, provides shelter for animals, and improves soil and water management. Because the tree is so versatile, we also jump musically from one topic to another. For example, Ricciotti performs music by Wagner in which he has depicted the forest, a brand-new composition based on data from a 200-year-old oak, and Vivaldi’s bassoon concerto in Eb, played by our soloist Bram van Sambeek. With his ‘bundle of branches,’ the literal meaning of the word bassoon, he also performs other music, including a piece specially composed for this tour by Karmit Fadael. This fall, Ricciotti celebrates the tree everywhere and for everyone!

Soloist
Bassoonist Bram van Sambeek is our soloist during Ricciotti's Klankbos.
Why and when did you start playing the bassoon?
Ricciotti performs in many different places. What is the craziest place you've ever played?
I naturally always looked for unusual places to play, so the list is long. The most crazy feeling was definitely playing while riding my bike. The well-known photo was taken at the Formula 1 circuit where the Australian Chamber Music Festival always rehearses. Additionally, like the Ricciotti ensemble, I have performed for many sheep and cows.
Which artist (living or dead) would you like to have a coffee with, if you could??
Antonio Vivaldi. I would love to ask him why he composed as many as 40 bassoon concertos and how he envisioned the many nuances and effects in his music regarding performance and the character of the instrument.
