Deze herfst neemt het Ricciotti Ensemble je mee op een muzikale wandeling door Ricciotti’s Klankbos. De boom, die centraal staat deze tour, is onmisbaar: hij zuivert de lucht, verkoelt de stad, biedt onderdak aan dieren én verbetert bodem en waterhuishouding. Omdat de boom zo veelzijdig is, springen we ook muzikaal van de hak op de tak. Zo speelt het Ricciotti bijvoorbeeld muziek van Wagner waarin hij het bos heeft verklankt, klinkt er een gloednieuwe compositie gebaseerd op de data van een 200 jaar oude beuk en hoor je Vivaldi’s fagotconcert in Es, gespeeld door onze solist Bram van Sambeek. Met zijn ‘bundel takken’, de letterlijke betekenis van het woord fagot, speelt hij ook nog andere muziek, waaronder een stuk dat Karmit Fadael speciaal voor deze tour heeft gecomponeerd.  Dit najaar looft het Ricciotti de boom, overal en voor iedereen!

Soloist

Bassoonist Bram van Sambeek is our soloist during Ricciotti's Klankbos.

Why and when did you start playing the bassoon?  
When I was ten years old, I was tired of playing the recorder and wanted to try something different. My mother guided me through the open day at the Groningen Music School so I could choose a new instrument. She slightly opened the doors to prevent me from selecting the instrument solely based on its size or how shiny it looked, as those factors were important to me at that age. I mainly chose the bassoon based on its sound, but I was also very pleased with its size and shine.

Ricciotti performs in many different places. What is the craziest place you've ever played?
Ik heb van nature altijd gekke plekken opgezocht om te spelen, dus de lijst is lang. Wat het gekste voelde was toch het spelen tijdens het fietsen. De inmiddels bekende foto is genomen op het Formule 1-circuit waar het Australian Chamber Music Festival altijd repeteert. Daarnaast heb ik, net als bijvoorbeeld het Ricciotti Ensemble, al voor vele schapen en koeien mogen optreden. 

Which artist (living or dead) would you like to have a coffee with, if you could??
Antonio Vivaldi. I would love to ask him why he composed as many as 40 bassoon concertos and how he envisioned the many nuances and effects in his music regarding performance and the character of the instrument.
